I can't take credit for assembling this list. In point of fact, a few of my own favorite sites aren't featured here. This list was assembled by Angela Ackerman, and I stumbled across it on Scrib-O-Phile, a site which I visit about once a year.

All that said, there are a few good links here. I'll post the link, a capture of the opening page, and a short review.
Upgrade! Money! NOW!!!
Here's Scrib-O-Phile, a site that is devoted to authors, or so they say. Note that there's a option labeled PREMIUM on the far right. This is what Scrib-O-Phile is actually all about. Note that the premium membership is less than $100 per year, but I truly don't see the value for the money spent. Your mileage may vary.
OneLook Dictionary Search
OneLook Thesaurus
OneLook Reverse Dictionary
One Look features a bazillion words indexed across one thousand plus online dictionaries. Looking up a word can be a truly unique experience, especially if you're trying to find the meaning of some obscure word that you've never seen before and sincerely doubt is a real word in the English language.
The best part about One Look is the reverse dictionary and thesaurus features. If you think you know what the word means, but you can't recall the word itself, type in a brief definition and you'll get a few suggestions. Nice!
Writers Helping Writers
Writers Helping Writers - Writing Tools
Access to the site costs $100 per year. They offer a two week free trial. Personally, I don't think it's worth the price, but that's just my own opinion. Your mileage may vary.
HiveWord
HiveWord Writer's Knowledge Base
HiveWord is a novel organization software package. The basic membership is free; otherwise it costs $50 per year. I've never used it, not even the basic FREE! membership, but it's interesting to look through.
LitCharts
The LitCharts Library
Literary Devices & Terms
This site is definitely worth a look. For one thing it's free. The library is impressive, and the dictionary of literary devices and terms is excellent. Your mileage may vary, but I'd encourage any writer to take a hard look at this site.
Reedsy
The site is concerned with publishing. This is where the author gets paid, so on that basis alone I'd suggest you, the promising author, look through it. The other thing you should know about Reedsy is that it was constructed with altruistic motives, but it gets its funding through the EU. From the site:
Funded by the European Union. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 734046.
I don't know if that makes a difference to anyone (it doesn't to me), but given Brexit and all the other disturbances happening in the EU these days, I think you should take a hard look at the site before it goes the way of the cost cutter in office.
Need an online stop watch? I don't, but if you do here's one that works.
Write Words
Word Frequency Counter
Membership costs £20, or $26.07 USD. It's a British site, so if you live in The Colonies your spell checker will have a nervous breakdown and the grammar you use doesn't always apply. The great part about this site is the word frequency counter. Copy and paste your text into a box, and hit the Submit button. Your text is parsed into individual words and the results sorted by word count, descending order (smallest last). This can be extremely useful if you want to count the number of times you've used 'very'. The word frequency counter is free, which is a nice touch.
Helping Writers Become Authors
Helping Writers Become Authors - Story Structures
This isn't a bad site once you get past the commercials. There are two main uses for the site. One, the owner of the site (K.M. Weiland) is a published author and is willing to answer questions. This can be extremely helpful if you need someone who's been there to point you in the right direction.
The other item from the site is the structure database. From the site:
The Story Structure Database is an archive of books and movies, recording all their major plot points.
If you need anything like this, you've just found the grail.
And that's the list as it stands right now, on October 9, 2020.
